Holistic Postpartum Meal Delivery Service
The first 40 days postpartum, called the healing window of opportunity, is a time for new mothers to rest, bond with their baby and heal. In addition to rest and support, nutrition is key to a successful and healthy recovery. Foods that new mothers eat during the early postpartum period can either hinder or enhance their postpartum recovery. Our holistic and plant-based recipes are designed with new mothers in mind to promote emotional and mental health, increase energy, support lactation and speed recovery.
Postpartum Depression and Nutrition
A growing body of new research has linked depression to inflammation. We also better understand the role of the gut-brain connection (via the vagus nerve) in regulating mood, and a 2013 study published in the Asian Journal of Psychiatry found a strong correlation between inflammation, serotonin levels, and postpartum depression.
Further, the research on the link between nutrient depletion during pregnancy and lactation and postpartum depression has shown that nutrient depletion can affect the production of key mood-regulating neurotransmitters, like serotonin. In addition, lower levels of folate, vitamin D, iron, selenium, zinc, fats, and fatty acids have all been associated with a higher risk of PPD.
Our menu is plant-based and can be made gluten free! It is carefully designed to nourish, warm and heal a new mother body mind and spirit! Weekly menu can include Breakfast and or Lunch/Dinner Items.
